Become a Hockey Umpire

Umpires are an integral part of our game. Without officials, sport would not survive, so it is up to our clubs and associations to build a positive culture of support for officials.

Coloured Shirt Program

The Coloured Shirt Program (developed by the Office for Recreation & Sport) identifies beginner or inexperienced officials so that all participants can stop, think and support new officials.

HockeyEd Accreditation

Hockey Australia’s National program for umpire training and accreditation at all levels. The HockeyEd umpire and coach training programs are competency based and are designed to reflect the modern game and the needs of hockey participants.

National Pathway

Hockey Australia recognises that quality officiating has a significant influence upon players and their hockey experience, hence the recommendation for all umpire coaches to be accredited at an appropriate level.
