On the 22nd December 2022, we saw the passing of Hockey SA Life Member, Gloria Potter.
Gloria started playing hockey at the age of 13 for Glengarry. At age 16, she moved to Sans Souci Hockey Club and played A Grade. She remained at San Souci from 1960 to 1974 and during this time was a South Australian state representative. In 1975 she moved to Aroha (now Adelaide Hockey Club) and played A Grade until moving to Alice Springs, where she continued playing hockey, before coming back to Adelaide in 1979 and returned to Aroha to coach. In 1982 she moved to Woodville Hockey Club as a playing coach.
From 1980 to 1982 Gloria was on the Executive Committee, a Senior State Selector and on the Umpires Committee and Convenor. In 1982 she received her All Australian Umpiring Badge. Gloria then moved to New Zealand for three years where she continued her hockey career.
From 1987-1989, she was on the State Team Committee and Umpires Committee. In 1990, Gloria added Permits and Convenor of Selectors for Seniors, U21's and U18's to her many roles. She was awarded Life Membership of Hockey SA in 1990.
Our condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to the Potter family.
