Hockey SA High-Performance Department is pleased to announce the 2021 Fire Academy squad selections. 

The Fire Academy is Hockey South Australia’s leading Development & High-Performance Program. The Academy is run by Hockey South Australia’s High-Performance Department & supporting coaches, which involves intensive skill-based training, modified games, and full-field match play.

Approximately 250-300 athletes will gain selection into the Academy in 2021 over three age groups, across both Metropolitan & Regional areas.

There have been some exciting changes made to the way Athlete Development will be structured in 2021. The Fire Academy will run between February - November, moving away from the traditional 6-8 week block format. This will enhance the retention of information, minimise burnout and allow athletes to have flexibility with their workload throughout the calendar year. 

The Fire Academy will provide opportunities for emerging talent from Regional & Metropolitan areas to develop their tactical and technical skills.

These Academies will be structured to lead into age-specific National Tournaments with various checkpoints along the way i.e. State Trials, State Selection, and State Training.

U13 Metropolitan Fire Academy Details:
Cost: $400.00 pp
Contact Hours: 20+ (This equates to approx. $20 per hour)
Registrations Close: Sunday, February 14th

U15 & U18 Metropolitan Fire Academy Details:
Cost: $500.00pp
Contact Hours: 28+ (This equates to approx $18 per hour)
Registrations Close: Sunday, February 14th

*Training groups will be monitored & modified on a weekly basis dependant on attendance & performance.

Regional Fire Academy Details:
Cost $250.00pp
Contact Hours: 20-25+. (This equates to approx. $10-12.50 per hour)
Registrations Close: Sunday, February 14th

U13, U15 & U18
*Training groups will be determined by numbers & skill level
10 - 12 x weekday sessions (this will vary between Regional Academies)
2 x Matchday (Please refer to above or Academy Handbook for each age group)

*Academy Calendar to be confirmed by Regional Academy Coordinator 
*Weekday Academy sessions will be conducted in Regional Centres & Matchdays to be held at the State Hockey Centre, Adelaide. 

FIRE ACADEMY UNIFORM:

We're excited to announce that in 2021, Indigo Wolf will be the uniform supplier of the Fire Academy. Uniforms will be sold separately. 

The playing uniform design will stay the same in 2021, so the 2020 uniform can still be worn during sessions. New to the Academy, will be a range of "Walkout" gear which is optional for purchase. 

*It is compulsory for ALL athletes to wear the Fire Academy playing uniform at each session. 

*Please note: Uniforms will only be available to order between February 1st - 24th. A second uniform order will be available later in 2021.
