Hockey SA High-Performance Department is pleased to announce the 2020 Fire Academy squad selections. 

The Fire Academy is Hockey South Australia’s leading Development & High-Performance Program. The Academy is run by Hockey South Australia’s High-Performance Department and involves intensive skill-based training, modified games, and full-field match play.

Approximately 300-350 athletes will gain selection into the Academy in 2020 over three age groups, across both Metropolitan & Regional areas.

There have been some exciting changes made to the way the Athlete Development will be structured. The 2020 Fire Academy will have three seperate age groups; U13, U15, U18. Please note, there will be changes in 2021 to the age groups and timelines as 2020 has been affected by COVID-19.

The Fire Academy will provide opportunities for emerging talent from Regional & Metropolitan areas to develop their tactical and technical skills.

These Academies will be structured to lead into age-specific National Tournaments with various checkpoints along the way i.e. State Trials, State Selection, and State Training.

Metropolitan Fire Academy Details:
Cost $300.00 pp
Contact hours: 15+ (This equates to approx. $20 per hour)
Registrations Close: Thursday, July 30th

*All athletes will be provided with an Academy Uniform (Shirt, Shorts & Socks)
*Training groups will be monitored & modified on a weekly basis dependant on attendance & performance. 

U13
6 x weekday sessions

1 x City v Country Exhibition Match (Teams selected from U13 Matchday)

U15
6 x weekday sessions
1 x Matchday (October long weekend)
1 x Regional Academy Tour (Tour squad selected from U15 Matchday)

*Weekday Academy sessions will be conducted in Regional Centres & Matchday to be held at the State Hockey Centre, Adelaide. 

*Please note: U15 & U18 Academy Tour details have changed slightly due to border restrictions and safety concerns. Academy Tour will be now travelling to a regional destination in South Australia.
